‘Sahahra’ – this means ‘a culture of care’

Sahahra started in the mid 1990’s as a project within the Pakistan Community Centre.  A few years later, and with support from the PCC, we formed as a separate organisation in our own right so that we could have a board of voluntary directors selected for experience of, and interest in, care issues.  We also widened our scope so that we could eventually deliver elderly care services to any needy citizens.  In 2006 we took a lease on the Lodge in Derby’s Arboretum Park, meaning that we are now surrounded by trees and gardens, we are more centrally placed in the Normanton community and we have plenty of space.  The Lodge is a heritage building close to, and with easy access from Rosehill Street.  The room where we provide our services is a delightful carpeted hall with comfortable furniture and chairs.
